Luis Javier Castro is an entrepreneur and activist, founder and CEO of Mesoamerica Investments, a Private Equity firm focused on Latin America for over 25 years. His investments span renewable energy, telecommunications, and more, collaborating with major partners like OTPP and Bain Capital.
Previously, he served on the boards of Grupo de Energía de Bogotá and Codensa, and founded Yo Emprendedor, benefiting over 6,000 entrepreneurs. He is also president emeritus of AED, a business alliance for development, and involved with the Central American Leadership Initiative and Aspen Institute. In 2022, he joined the Board of the largest NGO, United Way Worldwide.
Recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year by El Financiero, he was named one of the 100 most influential people in Latin America. In 2023, he founded Alejandria to promote conscious capitalism and societal empowerment, with impactful projects like Knowledgehook and Elenas.
He holds degrees in Agribusiness from Texas A&M and an MBA from Georgetown University. Luis Javier is married with three children and is passionate about supporting cultural initiatives in Costa Rica and Colombia.
